A message to Peter Rehberg - Sloooooow it dooooown maaaan. I can't keep up. I've three kids to feed. You are putting out too many good records and effectively stealing food from their table as I cannot hold back! Whaaaa??? A new Mark Fell double LP and ultra-fancy Hecker CD the same week??? I feel like I'm living the dream. Well really regular readers of these pages will no doubt be fully aware of my love for Mark Fell's audio so I'll spare the arse kissing here. His 'UL8' CD for the label has been revisited and reinterpreted on many of the tracks here and given somewhat of a more accessible sheen. Wow the title track is well good, it's sorta channeling a classic (proper!) house groove. Good job this one is on wax as I can well imagine dropping this in the mix alongside some cherished early chi-town gear. A brilliant melodic algorithm. The quality of re-imagination continues and in some ways you can tell Mark is behind the audio but honestly if someone was to hit me with a blind-folded "Pepsi challenge" test for a lot of the stuff I wouldn't have thought these were his tracks at all. It's a refreshing listen where a lot of his early house and rave influences emerge. I dig the french language narrative that runs throughout too. A fine example of how the artist can be simultaneously academic and playful. Good lord Mark is in full euphoric party style on here and it is a top buzz. Yet another unexpected but welcome move from this computer music master. The vinyl Comes in a super nice sleeve too with a massive poster that I'm gonna frame and hang in my hallway when the builders are done with it. My wife may not be too happy about that... I might have to rule with thee old iron claw.OOOOhhhh this tune just got totally Yorkshire bleep for 2011 (Yeah Yorkshire NOT Sheffield bleep > Unique 3 were from Bradford!) A W E S O M E !!!!!
